Here at Infinity Farm, I train by combining Natural Horsemanship and Classical dressage with a slightly unconventional and uniquely individual approach, while maintaining a positive sense of humor.
My experience is a life long journey. As a kid I spent all my days with horses and dogs- ok,a few dairy cows too. As I got older and more serious, I competed my horse in pleasure classes and trail classes, moving on to reining and even a few jumping shows. Finally I landed in dressage which was a great fit for me.
My horse education includes training with Mona Benson, Karen Perkins, and Sarah Martin. I have worked in clinics with Jane Savoie, Max Gahwyler, Sandy Pfluegler and many others.
Other activities that informed my horse life are my 'straight job' as a self employed artist and gallery owner (www.annablake.com). I have taught T'ai Chi, been a writer, and worked with Non-Profit organizations.
And now I have lived long enough to have other things as important to me as my own riding! I love the give-and-take between the instructor, the rider and the horse. Lessons give me a chance to both teach and learn. Explaining techniques that involve touch and finesse are a creative communication challenge that I relish. Sharing the joy and insight horses have given me with other riders is my passion.
Finally, a word of thanks to the best teachers, my horses. I prefer them to stand as my resume. I have trained and ridden two horses to upper dressage levels. One was a $600 Appaloosa who had a great canter pirouette, and one was a $600 Arabian whose tempi changes were smooth as silk. A rescue donkey named Ernest holds an equal position. I have a young Iberian Sporthorse coming up.... I got all my horses as weanlings, and I have had some great help. Maybe I can be that kind of help for you and your horse now.
Remember, it is supposed to be fun!
